David Rios is an artist-educator presently creating work in glass that expresses his cultural identity and celebrates his Chicano heritage. Recent residencies include Pilchuck Glass School, Penland School of Craft, and the Pittsburgh Glass Center. Rios will share the process and personal inspiration behind his glass conchas and ofrenda installation pieces. Program participants will enjoy traditional conchas from a Duwamish Valley Panaderia and create linocut prints that reflect their own personal symbology and culture. Rios is currently showing at Tacoma Art Museum in GATHER: 27 Years of Hilltop Artists.
